Dennis Lim
Dennis Lim is a New York-based film curator and writer. He is the author of Tale of Cinema (2022), a monograph on the filmmaker Hong Sangsoo, and The Man from Another Place (2015), a critical biography of David Lynch that has been translated into three languages. His writing has appeared in The New York Times, Artforum, Bookforum, The New Yorker, Film Comment, and other publications, and he has taught at Harvard University, New York University, and the Elias Querejeta Zine Eskola in San Sebastian, where he was curator in residence in 2023. He has served on the selection committee of the New York Film Festival for 15 years and, since 2020, has overseen its programming as Director of Programming, then as Artistic Director. From 2013 to 2022, he was the Director of Programming for Film at Lincoln Center, the NYFF’s parent institution. He has served as an advisor and juror for numerous international film festivals, and he programmed the 56th Flaherty Seminar in 2010, centered on work and its representations. In 2018, he received the Chevalier of the Arts and Letters from the French Ministry of Culture.
