Kate Cortesi
Kate Cortesi is a screenwriter and playwright whose work spans television, film, and theater. Cortesi has written and sold original television pilots to AMC, Fremantle, and Disney+ (EMEA), and developed series with Jax Media, Randall Einhorn, Greer Shephard, Joey King, Dianna Agron, and Robin Green, among others.
In film, Cortesi has written original and adapted screenplays for studios and producers including Lionsgate, Universal/NBC, Working Title, Amy Pascal, Sinestra, Ryder Picture Company, Free Association, Rideback, and Hidden Pictures. Her artistic collaborators in the feature space include directors Annabelle Attanasio, Randall Einhorn, Jonathan Levine, and Dianna Agron, and actors Channing Tatum and Cardi B.
Cortesi's plays have been performed across the U.S. and internationally, including in translation, and are published by Samuel French and Dramatists Play Service. Her theatrical work has been recognized by the Princess Grace Foundation, NYFA, The Kilroys, The Sky Cooper New American Play Prize, New Dramatists, and The Relentless Award Foundation, among others. Theatrical commissions include Playwrights Horizons, South Coast Rep, and the Lucille Lortel Theatre.
As a professor of dramatic writing, Cortesi has taught at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts, Rikers Island, and many places in between. She lives between New York City and Boston with her husband and two daughters.
