J. Mae Barizo
J. Mae Barizo is a poet and essayist. Recent work appears in The Atlantic, Esquire, Poetry, Ploughshares, and Los Angeles Review of Books, and her work has been anthologized by W.W. Norton, Simon and Schuster, and Harvard University Press. In 2025, Carnegie Hall presented the world premiere of her monodrama, "Cloud Variations." Forthcoming books include Becoming Hybrid, a book of artist's conversations and essays, and Cloud Pantoums, chosen for the Jean Valentine Series at Alice James Books. Barizo is the author of two other books of poetry, The Cumulus Effect and Tender Machines, and is the recipient of numerous fellowships and awards. She is on the faculty of the Creative Writing MFA at The New School and lives in New York City.
