Gordon Penn
Gordon Penn, Columbia University School of Art 2018. Credits include Into The Zone (directed by Ann Cooley) and Disarm at the Schapiro Theatre, Columbia University; Thank You For Your Service at The City College of New York; Into The Zone (Mandarin translation directed by Ann Cooley) at The Shanghai Theatre Academy, China. Producing credits include: I Came To New York To Write by Robert Patrick (directed by Ann Filmer) at the Organic Theatre (Chicago) ; Actors Are People Who Lie To You by Andy Cobb at the Bailiwick Theatre.
As a music and theatre publicist in Chicago, Gordon’s credits include: Angles In America (directed by David Cromer) with The Journeymen, Michael Halberstam’s Writer’s Theatre, Robert Dubac’s The Male Intellect an Oxymoron. Gordon was the volunteer publicist for The National Runaway Switchboard. In Los Angeles, Gordon managed actors. His clients included: Sean Gunn, Brent Sexton, and Patrick Belton.
Gordon is a proud Veteran of the United States Army where he is both an Infantry Soldier (11B) and a Photojournalist (46Q). While on active duty, Gordon was a member of the 3rd Infantry Regiment “The Old Guard” Escort To The President of the United States, where he participated in the inauguration of President Barack Obama. In 2011, he was sent to Kuwait as a photographer to document the 20th anniversary remembrance of the Gulf War. Gordon proudly continues his service as a member of the United States Army Reserve and is presently a public affairs specialist with the 361st Public Affairs Detachment, Fort Totten, Queens.
Gordon founded the publicity, marketing, theatrical production company Big Mouth; Co-founder of Big Mouth Talent Agency. A Graduate of The Second City Training Center; Artistic Director of Mindworks Theatre Company (an improvisational based children’s creative writing program). Gordon is a graduate of Licking High School, Licking, Missouri. Fordham University (2015). Gordon is the libretto military consultant and assistant costume designer for An American Soldier, a new opera by David Henry Hwang and Huang Ruo being presented at the Opera Theatre of Saint Louis beginning in June 2018. Gordon was the 2015/16 Shubert Fellow for Columbia University School of Art Playwriting concentration. Gordon is currently assisting Lucy Thurber on her new MCC production, Transfers.
