Shar Simpson

Shar Simpson (she/they) is a narrative designer, author, and educator specializing in interactive storytelling. They are a Sundance Storytelling Lab fellow, POV Spark Lab resident, part of Columbia University’s Digital Storytelling Lab, and the recipient of a dual MFA in Creative Writing and Interactive Media from CalArts. Shar’s immersive work has been featured at international festivals including Tribeca, CPH:DOX, Slamdance, Mozilla Fest, SITGES, and Cannes XR. Their interactive novel Eighth Grade Witch was the first Choose Your Own Adventure title adapted into a graphic novel.

Shar teaches courses in the School of the Arts' Digital Storytelling Lab that explore generative storytelling, interactive theory, and collaborative design. They have led worldbuilding workshops for Meow Wolf, Yale University, and more. To learn more about Shar's work visit: sharsimp.com
