Katrina Dodson
Katrina Dodson is a writer and a translator from the Portuguese. Her translation of The Complete Stories, by Clarice Lispector (New Directions, 2015), won the PEN Translation Prize and other awards and was named a New York Times Notable Book. Covert Joy, a slimmer selection of her Lispector translations, was published in 2025. After six years of research and revision, she completed her translation of the landmark Brazilian modernist novel, Macunaíma: The Hero with No Character, by Mário de Andrade (New Directions / Fitzcarraldo UK, 2023). Her non-fiction writing has appeared in The Believer, McSweeney’s, The Paris Review, and elsewhere. Dodson holds a PhD in Comparative Literature from the University of California, Berkeley and is an affiliated scholar of the Brazil LAB at Princeton University.
