Diane Houslin

Diane Houslin is a New York City based Creative Producer. Over the last two decades, Houslin has seamlessly navigated between multiple genres, including - fiction, documentary, news, award shows, branded entertainment and digital content. Houslin began her career on the Emmy Award-winning Charlie Rose Show, where she worked her way up from intern to producer during her seven-year stint with the program. Diane left PBS to join HBO as a Senior Writer/Producer in the esteemed Creative Services department. During her tenure, Diane produced and the directed the series HBO First Look for the acclaimed HBO Films. Houslin produced for Emmy Award-winning documentary filmmaker, Jonathan Hock, on several of his stellar films under the ESPN 30 for 30 banner, including Through the Fire, The Streak, Last Son of Havana, The Best that Never Was, Off the Rez, and ESPN’s coverage of the 2010 FIFA World Cup, where they created short films featuring the legendary jazz musician and revolutionary, Huge Masekela.

Among her proudest works in the nonfiction space, Houslin was a senior producer on the wildly popular Black Girls Rock! Awards Show which showcases the accomplishments of black women and girls.

Houslin’s first short film, Morning Breath, received a special jury prize at the 2002 Sundance Film Festival and the Gold Hugo award at the Chicago International Film Festival. It screened at dozens of international and domestic festivals. Houslin was selected by the prestigious Sundance Institute as a Fellow in the inaugural class of the Creative Producing Lab. Through the support and mentorship of Sundance, Houslin produced her first narrative feature, Yelling to the Sky, starring Zoe Kravitz. Houslin was chosen as one of four American Fellows in the Trans Atlantic Partners (TAP) international producing program. In 2010, Houslin partnered with best selling novelist, Walter Mosley, to form B.O.B. FilmHouse, Inc. with the mission to adapt Mosley’s many works of fiction for the screen and stage. Diane served as Executive Producer/Showrunner on the company’s limited series for AppleTV+, The Last Days of Ptolemy Grey, starring Samuel L. Jackson, based on Mosley’s novel of the same name. Most recently, the company partnered with Disney/Andscape, to produce the feature adaptation of Mosley’s acclaimed novel, The Man in My Basement. The film stars two-time Tony Award-nominated actor, Corey Hawkins, alongside four-time Academy Award-nominated veteran actor, Willem Dafoe. The film is an official selection of the 2025 Toronto International Film Festival. It will be distributed theatrically through Disney and streaming on HULU, Fall 2025.

In 2015, Houslin had the unique opportunity to expand her love of learning by joining Masterclass.com, an online educational platform, as an Executive Producer. Houslin has produced and directed over 80 Masterclass courses.

Houslin is a member of New York Women in Film and Television (NYWIFT) and the Producers Guild of America (PGA), where she is a board member. She is proud Brooklynite, where she still resides.

The Last Days of Ptolemy Grey, a new mini series directed and executive produced by alumnus and Head of Directing Concentration Ramin Bahrani '96 (CC) and executive produced by Adjunct Professor Diane Houslin, premiered on Apple TV+ on March 11. The show, which was adapted for the screen by Walter Mosley from his own novel by the same name, will have a total of six episodes with new episodes being released weekly on Fridays.
