Ed Decter

Ed Decter is a television showrunner, film screenwriter, director, and novelist.

His feature credits include There's Something About Mary, The Santa Clause 2, The Santa Clause 3, The Wild, Rebound, and The Lizzy McGuire Movie. 

As a television showrunner he has executive-produced both comedies and dramas: Chicago Sons, The Closer, Odd Man Out, In Plain Sight, The Client List, Helix, Unforgettable, and most recently created and executive-produced Shadowhunters and co-created Harlan Coben's Shelter for Amazon. Currently, he is writing and Executive Producing James Ellroy’s Beverly Hills Noir for producer Stuart Till and Matt Loze, Confidence Men, a pilot for Nickel City Productions, and adapting Echo Park based on the Realm 9-part podcast with Don Cheadle and Harry Shum producing. He has just completed a feature production rewrite of Chasing Red, a bestselling Wattpad book series, currently in production.    

Decter directed the Sony feature The New Guy and has written six novels for Simon & Schuster. He taught screenwriting and producing at the graduate program of the American Film Institute for the past 14 years and is currently an adjunct professor at Brooklyn College's Feirstein Graduate Program and Columbia University's Graduate Film and Television program.
