Terry Ganley

Terry Ganley is the Production Stage Manager of the Metropolitan Opera, where she has worked for over two decades. Recent productions include Salome, directed by Klaus Guth with Elsa van de Heever; The Nose, Lulu, and Wozzeck, directed by William Kentridge; Die Rosenkavalier, directed by Robert Carsen; and Die Zauberflöte, directed by Simon McBurney.

Ganley leads a tight-knit group of stage managers at the top of their game at the Met, balancing multiple productions in various stages of rehearsal and performance at one of the world’s largest repertory opera companies.

Previously, Ganley was the Production Stage Manager of the San Francisco Opera and has worked at many of the prominent companies in the country, including The Lyric Opera of Chicago, The Washington Opera, and The Houston Grand Opera. 

Committed to supporting young stage managers—especially in opera—she is a co-creator of the Metropolitan Opera Stage Manager and Stage Director Fellowship, now in its fifth year. 

A lifetime member of the American Guild of Musical Artists, she served on its Board of Governors for over 15 years. She holds a BFA from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts.
