Jon Shear

Jon Shear runs the Take Action Workshop, NY’s foremost collaborative gym. It brings together filmmakers and actors to explore optimal methods for creating indelible on-camera performances. His clients include Oscar-nominated and Emmy-winning filmmakers along with Sundance award-winning and Tony-nominated actors. A filmmaker in his own right, Shear’s film Urbania was nominated for the Grand Jury Prize at Sundance; won Best Film &/or Actor at 10 other film festivals; and was named one of the year’s best films by the Los Angeles Times, San Francisco Chronicle, Chicago Tribune, Miami Herald, and 30 others. As an actor, Shear appeared in the films Independence Day and Heathers; the award-winning And the Band Played on HBO; and the original production of the Pulitzer Prize winning Angels in America: Millennium Approaches. He is a graduate of Harvard University, where he won the Harvard Prize for writing and the McDonnell Award for directing.
