Phoebe Chen

Phoebe Chen is a writer, lecturer, and PhD candidate in the department of Cinema Studies at New York University. Her research and teaching interests include film archival theory and practice, late c.19th visual culture, silent film technology, and video installation art. Her essays and criticism can be found in publications like The New York Times, Criterion, Artforum, The Nation, The New York Review of Books, Bookforum, Aperture, and elsewhere. Her academic work has been published in Feminist Media Histories. She has taught at NYU, CUNY, and works as a museum educator at the Frick Collection. She has also appeared on panels at the New York Film Festival, the Brooklyn Academy of Music, and the Melbourne International Film Festival.
