Victor LaValle

Victor LaValle is the author of eight works of fiction. His most recent novel, Lone Women, was a national bestseller. His previous novel, The Changeling, has been adapted for television on Apple TV. He served as creator, and showrunner, for the adaptation of his novel, The Devil in Silver, which will air on AMC in 2025. He is also the writer/creator of two comic books, Destroyer and Eve. His awards include a Guggenheim Fellowship, the Whiting Writers Award, a World Fantasy Award, and the Shirley Jackson Award, among others.

Associate Professor of Writing, Head of the Fiction concentration and horror virtuoso Victor LaValle '98 has adapted his novel The Devil in Silver into a six-episode limited series with AMC+ and Shudder. 

Marvel Comics recently published Marvel’s Voices: Legacy (2022) #1, with contributions from Associate Professor and alumnus Victor LaValle ‘98.

Boom! Studios recently announced that Eve, a new five-issue original comic book series by Associate Professor and alumnus Victor LaValle '98 and artist Jo Mi-Gyeong, will be released in May of 2021. 

The first comic in the new series Sabretooth by Associate Professor and alumnus Victor LaValle ‘98 will be released by Marvel Comics on January 5, 2022.

Here, we talk with Associate Professor and Fiction Concentration Head Victor LaValle about his forthcoming novel Lone Women, how Zoom has changed the classroom dynamic, and how routine can be more important than talent.
