Evan James is the author of I've Been Wrong Before: Essays and Cheer Up, Mr. Widdicombe: A Novel. His work has appeared in The New York Times, Oxford American, The Iowa Review, Travel + Leisure, and other publications. He received an MFA in Fiction from the Iowa Writers' Workshop and has taught at The University of Iowa, Victoria University of Wellington, The Center for Fiction, The Berlin Writers' Workshop, and The New School. He lives in Brooklyn.
