Katherine Burns
Katherine Burns is a screenwriter, producer, and educator whose work spans feature screenplays, television, and short films.
She is currently an Adjunct Assistant Professor at Columbia University School of the Arts. She has also served as a teaching assistant for the Columbia courses Film Noir (Prof. James Schamus) and Film and Media Theory (Prof. Nico Baumbach), and as a mentor for the Columbia Film MFA course Elements of Dramatic Narrative (Prof. Andy Bienen).
The recipient of a Sloan Stories of Science Development Fund grant (2023), her feature and television projects are situated across historical and contemporary contexts, often reflecting on real events and personal stories through a narrative lens. In addition to her writing projects, she is currently in post-production on a narrative short and a documentary short. She holds a BFA in Acting with a minor in Art History from NYU Tisch School of the Arts and an MFA in Film from Columbia University.
