Stephen Molton

Stephen Molton is an award-winning writer, artist, educator, and former television executive. His books include Brave Talk (Harper Collins) and Brothers in Arms: The Kennedys, the Castros and the Politics of Murder (w/ Gus Russo, Bloomsbury USA). 

Molton’s first TV foray was as co-creator of animated shorts for Sesame Street, produced by actor Paul Newman. As a screenwriter, Molton has written mini-series (Russo’s Live By the Sword and Clive Barker’s Weaveworld for Showtime), television movies, and feature films for New Line Cinema, Paramount Pictures and Viacom Networks, among others. His latest screen adaptation was The Drowning (based on Border Crossing by Pat Barker), and he has also produced two documentary features. As a creative executive for HBO, MTV, and Showtime Networks, he oversaw development and pre-production for many television films, including Elvis Meets Nixon; Charms for the Easy Life; and Harlan County War. He has taught his screen- crafts at Columbia University, NYU’s Tisch School, the Mediterranean Film Institute (Athens), and La Femis (Paris). 

Molton will complete an epic fiction trilogy this year, as well as the libretto for an opera about the life and times of Robert Kennedy for composer, Chandler Carter.
