Theatre alumnus Jeremy Blocker ’08 is leaving New York Theatre Workshop this summer to join Audible as their new head of live creative producing, the leading creator and provider of audio storytelling.
Blocker, who has been the Executive Director of Off-Broadway's New York Theatre Workshop since 2014, will oversee all live programming and production at Audible’s Minetta Lane Theatre. Additionally, he will evaluate Audible Original IP for live adaptation, and develop and produce this content for Audible listeners around the world.
“Audible Theater has been a laboratory for theatrical innovation, finding new models to make work and reach audiences in New York City and around the world,” Blocker said in a statement. “I am beyond excited to be joining Audible’s team and collaborating with them to create theatre in new ways… Being part of New York Theatre Workshop for the last decade has been the honor of a lifetime; I am indescribably proud of what the community has accomplished over the past decade and deeply grateful for the time I spent there.”
Audible Head of Creative Development Kate Navin said that Blocker is an ideal fit to lead Audible’s growing live business thanks to his taste, curatorial talent, and deep commitment to discovering emerging artists. “We are lucky to have his vast experience, track record, and widespread network to support the next stage of Audible Theater’s evolution, and help elevate Audible Originals as a leading voice in live narrative entertainment,” Navin said.
Before Blocker's tenure at NYTW, he was the first managing director of Ars Nova. Blocker has also held roles as Director of Individual Giving at Manhattan Theatre Club, Development Associate for Capital Projects at Atlantic Theater Company, and Producing Director of Babel Theatre Project, which he co-founded.
