Support the School of the Arts

Students come to Columbia University School of the Arts to focus intensely on their practice in film, theatre, visual arts, and writing. They attend because of the extraordinary mentorship they receive from the renowned faculty, the lifelong collaborations they forge with their classmates, and the great access to the arts world they experience centered in New York.

These artists will go on to become the leaders of their generation of writers, filmmakers, theatre practitioners, and visual artists, creating work that helps us make sense of turbulent times such as these. Now is the time to strengthen Columbia University’s renowned School of the Arts, so that its artists can emerge uniquely prepared to respond to important global concerns of the day.

Your gifts to the School of the Arts ensure that we can continue to provide essential scholarship support, hire exceptional faculty who want our School to be their intellectual home, and continue training the next generation of artists who will go on to create transformational works of art and scholarship….and to do so while reducing their financial burden as much as we possible.

Thank you for joining us in this noble endeavor!

Why Give?

Choosing to become an artist is always a brave undertaking. Such a life requires unencumbered time for creative work, a willingness to take risks and an acceptance that success might be elusive, and, if it does happen, it might take years. Nonetheless, our students come to the School of the Arts to focus intensely on their practice in visual arts, writing, theatre, and film. The School of the Arts is among the finest graduate art schools in the world—your support helps the School continue to attract the very best students and faculty, facilitate collaboration across all disciplines, and take our artists’ work to ever larger audiences.
