Javier Padilla '19 Starred in ‘Witch’ at The Huntington Calderwood

Acting alumnus Javier Padilla ’19 starred in The Huntington’s production of Witch. 

Written by Jen Silverman and directed by Rebecca Bradshaw, Witch ran from October 15 through November 14 at The Huntington Calderwood in Boston, Massachusetts.  

This new play follows a tempting devil named Scratch as he arrives in the country village of Edmonton. Upon his arrival, he promises to make the locals' darkest dreams come true in exchange for their souls. Then he meets Elizabeth Sawyer. Elizabeth is an outcast, known as a witch for years. She should be the easiest for Scratch to convince, but she ultimately resists his deal. Witch is a free adaptation of the 1621 Jacobean comedy The Witch of Edmonton. Silverman recreated the play with a modern sensibility. Stage Scene LA called the production  “devilishly clever and deliciously laugh-packed." 

Padilla played the character of Frank, an ambitious peasant farmer who hoped to win the inheritance of the local land-owning nobleman, Sir Arthur banks. His aspirations led him to be tested by Scratch in the production. 

Javier Padilla is a California born and raised actor based in New York City.
