Undergraduate Film and Media Studies student Tina Wang, recently worked as a co-producer alongside Warren Goz, Eric Gold, Christopher Kopp, Lucan Toh, Penn, John Ira Palmer, John Wildermuth, and Tye Sheridan on the thriller Asphalt City, starring Sean Penn and Sheridan.

The film, directed by Jean-Stéphane Sauvaire (Johnny Mad Dog and A Prayer Before Dawn), was in the Official Selection at the Cannes Film Festival last year.

Based on Shannon Burke’s same-name 2008 novel, the story follows a pair of paramedics, the young Ollie Cross (Sheridan) and the uncompromising, seasoned NYC EMT Gene Rutkovsky (Penn), who put their lives on the line each night in New York City, where each 911 call is dangerous and uncertain. The film explores the relationship between the two characters and, underneath, the ethical ambiguity that can mean the difference between life or death.

Asphalt City opened in theaters on March 29, 2024. Watch the trailer for the film below.
