The Legacy of Milos Forman
In 1978, esteemed director Milos Forman and his Screenwriting mentor Frank Daniel were appointed co-chairs of the Film Program. Under their leadership, the program flourished and became the world-renowned institution of film education that it is today. In many ways, Forman was the "creative founder" of Columbia Film, having shaped and refined its commitment to narrative filmmaking anchored in strong screenplays. He gave it a character as distinct as his own—original, passionate, intelligent, and international.

Last night at the 91st Academy Awards, the film Green Book, directed, produced, and co-written by writing alumnus Peter Farrelly ‘86, took home the Oscar for Best Picture, Best Original Screenplay, and Best Supporting Actor.

Color Out of Space, a film co-produced by alumni Elisa Lleras '11 and Simão Cayatte '12 will begin shooting this month. The film, starring Nicolas Cage and directed by Richard Stanley, is an adaptation of a sci-fi short story written in 1927 by the legendary writer H.P. Lovecraft.
