Alumnus Jamund Washington ’10 received the 2019 Cinereach Producer Award. He follows in the footsteps of faculty member and alumnus Shrihari Sathe ’09 who won the award in 2016.

According to the Cinereach website, “the Cinereach Producer Award supports the work of producers who create thought provoking content and shape new ways of filmmaking through their efforts.” The Producer Award honors each recipient with $50,000.

Founded in 2006, Cinereach started to support independent filmmakers through grants. As the challenge to create cutting-edge, independent films became continuously difficult for many artists, Cinereach expanded into a robust philanthropic endeavor to support films and filmmakers in their efforts to push boundaries.

Jamund Washington is a New York based filmmaker. His producing work includes the 2016 Emmy Award-nominated television film Silenced, South by Southwest Grand Jury Prize winner and Independent Spirit Award-nominated Gimme the Loot, and the Netflix original Tramps, which he also co-wrote. He is an Executive Producer, Writer, and Director on the Peabody Award-winning HBO series Random Acts of Flyness, which was recently renewed for a second season.
