Students of Columbia’s Sound Art MFA program presented installations in the Music and Arts Library. Staff Writer Celia Bernhardt learns what sound art is and describes a few beautiful pieces from the show.

A new body of work by Visual Arts alumna Patrice Renee Washington ’14 is available for viewing at Marinaro Gallery, New York.

Alumna Julia Phillips ‘15 is the subject of her first solo show in Los Angeles at Matthew Marks Gallery. Between Love and Loss is on view until December 23, 2021. 

Alumnus Kiyan Williams ’19 is featured in two group shows this season. 

In an online event, he discusses his process and the relationship between art and science with Maureen Raymo, co-founding dean of Columbia Climate School.

Alumnus Vikram Divecha ‘19 is included in a group show at Goethe-Institut in Abu Dhabi.

Alumnus Jeffrey Meris ’19 is featured in two shows this fall. They are: Sanctuary at Socrates Sculpture Park in Queens, New York and Free Body at Mestre Projects in the Bahamas. 

Alumna Devra Fox ’16 is featured in a solo exhibition at Hesse Flatow Gallery, on view from October 14 to November 13, 2021. This show highlights new graphite drawings by the San Francisco-based artist.

“It’s much more like a rhythm that’s unfolding over time. And so it requires memory. Visual and somatic memory of encountering those works, and it requires that the viewer see both parts of the show,” curator Amy Sadao said of the current installation in Lenfest Center for the Arts.

Alumna Susan Chen ’20 is featured in the solo exhibition I Am Not a Virus at Night Gallery in Los Angeles, CA, on view until October 23, 2021.

Adjunct Assistant Professor and Master Printer at the Neiman Center for Print Studies, Nathan Catlin '12 is featured in COMFORT/(DIS)COMFORT at the Centre for Contemporary Printmaking in Norfolk, CT.

Alumna Patrice Renee Washington '14 is featured in the group show Countercapture at Miriam Gallery in Brooklyn, NY until November 7, 2021.
