Opening reception, November 15th, 5–8pm
French Conceptual artist in permanent residency at the United Nations, Yann Toma, creates immersive environments using photographs, drawings, elements of performance and video projection to contemplate the effects of climate change on both a human and global scale. Inspired by the concept of Capitalocene – the idea that the global crises of our time are rooted in the Age of Capital – Toma believes in a politics of hope that signal the possibilities for transcending capitalism. The Neiman Gallery was transformed by Toma into a place of reflection on the current climate crisis.
