Columbia University School of Arts MFA Acting Cohort of 2024 presents HENRY VI: Civil Wars an adaptation of Shakespeare's trilogy plays, by Kathryn Walsh.

There are many versions of Shakespeare’s Henry VI plays, and they’ve been cut together, adapted and staged over and over by many artists, who’ve seen them as a story that can reflect something true to their communities at the time of their making. There have also been many versions of the history in these plays, depending on who is writing and when, and what their particular allegiances and agendas were. Everything is an adaptation.

In this radically shortened re-telling, we bring you a story of conflict and rivalry at the very inner circle of power. The wealthy family Plantagenet and their assorted relations drag their world to war again and again because they want that little extra scrap of influence and prestige. Lost somewhere among the machinations is everyone else who has to fight and die on their behalf. Why do these people want power? What do they say they want it for? What might they do with it once it’s theirs? And for how long will they get to keep it?
