Darby Minow Smith

Darby Minow Smith is a writer and journalist who splits her time between New York and rural Montana. As the long-time editor of the environmental magazine Grist, she managed a newsroom of early-career and established journalists and produced a National Magazine Award-nominated package on civic engagement. Through Columbia's Climate School, she co-taught a writing workshop with architect Lynnette Widder. In the fall of 2023, she lived on a tall ship as part of the Arctic Circle residency. She continues to collaborate on teaching and writing experiments at the intersections of art, science, climate, and botany.
