Void, a debut collection by Poetry Alumna Alla Vilnyanskaya '18, is available for pre-order from Thirty West Publishing House. The collection is scheduled for release on August 27th, 2021. 

"Boundaries," a short story by Marianne Vitale translated from the Italian by Writing student Laura Green, has been published in World Literature Today. 

Nonfiction student Ye Odelia Lu and Fiction student Lin King are contributors to the Asian American Writers' Workshop's Queer Time: A Special Notebook of Taiwanese Tongzhi Literature, which will launch on July 26, 2021.

After translating the works of Swiss-German author Robert Walser for decades, Professor Susan Bernofsky has written the first English-language biography of him.

All the Frequent Troubles of our Days, a thrilling true story of the American leader of a resistance group in Nazi Germany by Writing alumna Rebecca Donner '01, will be released by Little Brown and Co on August 3, 2021. 

Soon After First Light is a series where we talk craft, process, and pandemic with Columbia's accomplished writing professors. 

Writing Alumnus Eduardo Martinez-Leyva '15 has been selected as a 2021-2022 Provincetown Fine Arts Work Center Fellow. With the help of this prestigious fellowship, Martinez-Leyva will live and work at the Fine Arts Work Center for a period of seven months beginning in October of 2021. 

Writing alumna Catherine Lacey '10 recently won the 2021 NYPL Young Lions Award for her novel, Pew. This prestigious award is given annually to an American writer aged 35 or younger for an outstanding novel or collection of short stories, and the award carries a monetary prize of $10,000. This year's judges were authors Hernan Diaz and Emma Straub, and critic Yahdon Israel. 

Leylak, written and produced by Mustafa Kaymak '14, associate produced by Mark Castillo '18, and executive produced by Sola Fasehun '15, was named the winner of the 2021 Special Jury Mention Award in the shorts category of this year’s Tribeca Film Festival.

On Wednesday, the Copyright Agency Cultural Fund of Australia and award trustee Perpetual announced the shortlist for this year's Miles Franklin Literary Award. Writing alumna Madeleine Watts '19 is among the six Australian authors to be chosen as finalists for this prestigious award.

Alumnus Ben Rosenthal '18 recently published his debut collection of short stories, S-Bahn 5:32, through Adelaide Books.
