Stage Management alums Taeuk Kang '20 and Sage Spitz '23 will stage manage the Broadway National Tour of Moulin Rouge. The Broadway show, a jukebox musical directed by Alex Timbers, is an adaptation of Baz Luhrmann's 2001 movie and is set during the Belle Epoque period of French history. A young man named Christian falls in love with a young woman named Satine, the star of a cabaret show at The Moulin Rouge, a nightclub in Paris’s Montmartre neighborhood. The show has run on Broadway since 2019 and is set to close this July after nearly 2500 performances. Casts have included notable actors such as JoJo, Titus Burgess, Taye Diggs, and Casey Cott. The Moulin Rouge national tour launched in 2022, starting in Chicago.
Taeuk Kang is an AEA-member Korean stage manager with a passion for cross-cultural storytelling. Kang’s 20-plus years of experience expand across Korea and Broadway. His past credits include. (The Public), Happy Fall (Contemporary American Theatre Festival), SUMO (The Public), An American Soldier (PAC NYC), Like They Do In The Movies (PAC NYC), KPOP (Broadway), and Harry Potter and the Cursed Child (Broadway/Tour).
Sage Spitz is an AEA-member stage manager from New Jersey. Spitz started as a performer and later transitioned into arts administration and management, though indelibly her connection to performance has influenced her approach to stage management. "I am a stage manager who enjoys being in the rehearsal room. I make interpersonal connections with the cast and members of the creative team so that individuals feel they can trust me with their art, which can be very personal at times." Spitz has assisted on Broadway productions including A Beautiful Noise and Shucked. She served as the Assistant Stage Manager (ASM) for Kinky Boots at The Bucks County Playhouse and Richard III at Main Street Theatre in New York.
Upcoming shows for the Moulin Rouge tour will take place in Florida with stops in Jacksonville, Miami, and Clearwater.
