Theatre Management and Producing alumnus Ryan Bogner ’15 is the lead producer on The Cottage, which will premiere on Broadway this summer. The production, written by Sandy Rustin (Clue) and directed by Tony-award winning actor Jason Alexander (Jerome Robbins’ Broadway, Seinfeld), will play a limited run at the Helen Hayes Theater. Previews begin July 7, 2023; opening is scheduled for July 24, and the show closes October 29, 2023.

The Cottage is a farce inspired by the work of the late English playwright, actor, and composer, Noël Coward. Set in the British countryside in 1923, the play follows the story of Sylvia Van Kipness as she decides to expose her extramarital affair to her husband and her lover’s wife. Marriage, identity, and the true meaning of fate are called into question while a hilarious, surprising web of secrets unravels after Sylvia’s confession. The Cottage is a ridiculous, (potentially) murderous, and refreshingly feminist tale of sex, betrayal, and love.

The Cottage originally premiered at the Astoria Performing Arts Center in Queens, NY in 2013 and has had several productions around the United States in the last decade. The Broadway cast of The Cottage includes front-runners Eric McCormick (Will & Grace), Laura Bell Bundy (Legally Blonde), and Lilli Cooper (Tootsie, POTUS).
