Playwriting alumnus Max Mondi ’18 writes and produces RIGHT NOW! as part of the Tank’s digital programming. RIGHT NOW! stars Acting alumnae Alinca Hamilton ’18 and Amy Miyako Williams ’18 in monthly performances that play the first Wednesday of every month in 2021.

RIGHT NOW! is billed as an absurdist variety show that is “coming to you live (or perhaps not), from our isolation to yours.” The show’s segments embrace and play with new digital platforms—poking holes in them, stretching the fabric of their limitations, and exploring the surreal nature of our lives during this time of terrifying change and uncertainty. It’s not Theatre, it’s not TV, it’s right now!

Each segment of RIGHT NOW! debuts as a prelude to one of the Tank’s currently running shows. Then, once a month, these RIGHT NOW! segments turn into a full-length live show, featuring additional sketches, and a wide array of theatre artists—comedians, musicians, dancers, designers, and more. RIGHT NOW! offers reprieve, recognition, and deeply silly moments.

Max Mondi is a writer based in New York. His plays include Maybe Tomorrow (Winner of Overall Excellence in a Play at FringeNYC 2015, Kitchen Dog Theatre New Play Festival Finalist 2019, O'Neill Semi-Finalist 2017), House of Karen (O'Neill Semi-Finalist 2019, Bay Area Playwrights Festival 2019), Personhood and The Coming. He has developed work with Orchard Project, HERE, The PIT, SoHo Playhouse, Dixon Place, Abingdon Theatre Company, Project Y Theatre, Isle of Shoals, and Fresh Ink Theatre. The TV series You Follow Me, which he created and writes, will go into production Spring 2021. Max holds a BA in Theatre History/Criticism from the University of Vermont.

The next live streaming performance of RIGHT NOW! is on April 4, 2021.
