Acting Alumna Dawn Elizabeth Clements ’19 will play Lydia in the Long Wharf Theatre’s upcoming production of Pride and Prejudice. This new adaptation by Kate Hamill is directed by Jess McLeod. Clements most recently starred as Juliet in Romeo and Juliet at the Classical Theatre of Harlem. During her time at Columbia, Clements starred in productions directed by Tina Benko, Ron Van Lieu, James Calleri, and Andrei Serban.

Hamill’s new edition is billed as a feminist farce with a screwball twist on a beloved classic. While their mother is determined to find suitable marriages for her daughters, the Bennet sisters find themselves caught up in the politics of love set on the greens of Hertfordshire, England. When news spreads that a mysterious, handsome and wealthy bachelor has come to town, the world the Bennet sisters thought they knew turns upside down, especially for the rebellious Lizzy.

Clements states, “This unique twist on a classic is definitely something you won’t want to miss.” Pride and Prejudice opens on November 27 and runs through December 22 at the Long Wharf, in New Haven, Connecticut.
