Alumna Rebecca Miller Kratzer ’22 will direct Rage by Playwriting student ’22 Greg T. Nanni as a part of Emerson College’s Newfest New Plays Workshop.

The performances will run from February 27 through March 2.

Rage is an exploration of love in the time of cancel-culture and a generation full of rage. The story centers on two anonymous trolls who fall in love online while they conduct internet witch burnings as part of a perverse social justice movement known as The Conflagration. Against the group's rules, they decide to meet in person. However, they discover they've been lying to each other and themselves about who they are.

Rebecca Miller Kratzer is a New York-based theatre and opera director. She currently serves as Resident Stage Director and Chief Engagement Officer of Helios Opera. Rebecca formerly served as the Artistic Director of the NEMPAC Opera Project and produced and directed multiple productions in Boston's historic Faneuil Hall. She is the 2020-2021 Directing Fellow at Opera Saratoga. She also recently interned for director Katie Mitchell, working on New Dark Age, a new production at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden. She is currently working with director Whitney White on virtual projects and serving as the assistant director for a new production at the Bushwick Starr. She also previously directed and assistant directed with theatre and opera companies including the NEMPAC Opera Project, Opera del West, The Tank NYC, Trinity Repertory Company, The Footlight Club, The Boston Theater Marathon, Bridge Rep of Boston, Hub Theatre Company, Weston Playhouse, and The New York Times.

Greg T. Nanni is a playwright, comic book writer, marketer, and former Philadelphian living in the NYC area. He is a member of Witherspoon CirclePassage Play Lab, a former PDC Playwright in Residence at Plays & Players, the Literary Manager of the Idiopathic Ridiculopathy Consortium, and the former Marketing Manager of Plays & Players Theatre. He is the Co-Founder of the PDC Playwrights' Happy Hour and formerly served as President on the Philadelphia Dramatists’ Center board. He is the Co-Writer of the Youtube Series Bar-N-Tavern. He is one of the Co-Leaders of the Witherspoon Circle and is the co-producer of the New Feathers Reading Series program. He was the co-founder and editor of The Rome Review, a printed literary magazine. His One-Act plays have been featured in Festivals and Readings throughout the Greater Philadelphia Area and produced nationwide. Based on demand, he performs his solo shows Fat and The Depression Show!. Full-length plays include Loneliness (CU 2020 Workshop Production), The Bear is Here (BAPF Semi-Finalist), RageLove (Among Dreamers), Vacations, and Angst. He is a graduate of George Washington University and a recipient of the MFA in Playwriting at Columbia University, awarded the Dean’s Fellowship.
