On April 3, 2019 the Digital Storytelling Lab (DSL) will host its fourth-annual Breakthroughs in Storytelling award at Elinor Bunin Munroe Film Center in Lincoln Center. The award recognizes the DSL’s Digital Dozen of 2019, which is “a curated list of the most innovative examples of digitally enabled storytelling in 2018,” spanning across disciplines such as “cinema, video, journalism, advertising, marketing, games, art, fiction, and theater.” Projects selected for the Digital Dozen are ones that “best exemplify the spirit of inventiveness at work today” and use digital…
Combat Obscura, a documentary directed by current student, Miles Lagoze, premieres on March 15th despite external efforts to suppress the film. The documentary is also edited by alumnus Eric Schuman '17 and associate produced by current Theatre student Ciara Ni Chuirc.

Kanarí, a short film co-written & directed by alumnus Erlendur Sveinsson '18, co-written by current student Connor Simpson, co-produced by alumnus Daniel Raiffe '18, and edited by current student Brúsi Ólason, was shortlisted for the Shortfish award at the Stockfish Film Festival in Iceland.

For its 2019-2020 season, La Jolla Playhouse will present the world premiere of The Coast Starlight by Keith Bunin, directed by alumna Tyne Rafaeli '14, beginning August 20th thru September 15th at the Sheila and Hughes Potiker Theatre.
Directing alumna Nana Dakin '18 assisted tony-nominated director and Adjunct Assistant Professor, Leigh Silverman on Wild Goose Dreams an original play with music at The Public Theater which closed in December. Alumna Janelle Caso '17 was also the Assistant Stage Manager of the production. New York Magazine called the show “[w]himsical, powerful, and poignant. Quickly shifting and densely layered … visually delightful. A senses-tingling treat.”
Visual Arts alumnus Cy Gavin ‘16 is currently in exhibition at Mass MoCA in North Adams, Massachusetts.
Those Who Whistle After Dark, a feature project written by alumna Pinar Yorgancioglu '16 and produced by alumna Sarah Seulki Oh '15, was selected for the Venice Biennale's College Cinema program.

Hierophany, written and directed by alumnus Kevin Contento '18 and assistant directed by alumnus Daniel Pfeffer '18, will have its Florida Premiere at the 36th Miami Film Festival (March 1-10, 2019) as part of the Made in MIA Short Film Award. It will also receive its New York Premiere as part of the Caribbean Film Series: A 5th Anniversary Festival which will be held at BAM in Brooklyn (March 14-17, 2019). The film has previously screened at prestigious film festivals including the LA Film Festival 2018 as well as Slamdance Film Festival…
