Alumna Sola Fasehun '15 Selected For 4th Annual Industry Academy

Alumna Sola Fasehun ‘15 was recently selected to participate in the 4th Annual Industry Academy organized by the Film Society of Lincoln Center in collaboration with the Locarno Film Festival. The Industry Academy helps participants “attain a better understanding of the industry’s challenges while also extending their network of contacts and building bridges across different markets,” according to their website, The program supports and nurtures women and people of color to help them get a foothold in the industry.

The Industry Academy is produced by the Film Society’s Brian Brooks, Eugene Hernandez, and Christine Mendoza, in association with the Locarno Film Festival. The program runs March 27-31, 2019 during New Directors/New FIlms. It includes panel discussions exploring the fields of programming, marketing, distribution, sales, acquisitions, and promotion, as well as several industry events.

Sola Fasehun has worked under Academy Award-winning producer Michael Phillips (Taxi Driver, The Sting) in Beverly Hills. She also began the independent film company Fasehun Films. In NYC, Fasehun was one of the producers of Broken Badge, which was executive-produced by faculty member and Academy Award-nominatee Michael Hausman (Gangs of New YorkBrokeback Mountain). Fasehun also has Sales & Distribution experience working with Submarine Entertainment/Deluxe (Winter’s BoneTangerine). Fasehun is a co-producer on the feature film Fire Music, which premiered at the New York Film Festival and will soon be released in collaboration with Submarine Entertainment. Currently, she works at United Talent Agency.
