Dramaturgy alumna Anne Hamilton ’94 co-authored Dramaturgy: The Basics with Walter Byongsok Chon. The book was published by Routledge as part of its The Basics series on December 30, 2022.
Dramaturgy: The Basics offers readers an introduction to the practice of dramaturgy, specifically explaining how it works, what a dramaturg is, and how dramaturgs can uniquely contribute to the creation of theatre. The book is crafted with the intention of helping students and aspiring professional theatre makers gain an understanding of the often misunderstood application of dramaturgy to the full spectrum of theatrical disciplines. With that intention in mind, Dramaturgy: The Basics teaches dramatic theories, script analysis, and dramaturgy-focused reading techniques to develop in its readers the critical, inquisitive, and socially-conscious perspectives that will benefit them in all professional theatre-making fields.
