Cha Ramos '21 Brings Fight Direction to Life in 'Water for Elephants' Premiere

Theatre alumna Cha Ramos '21, a fight directing specialist, brings her expertise to the Broadway stage in the highly anticipated musical adaptation of Sara Gruen's critically acclaimed bestseller, Water for Elephants, which premiered on February 24, 2024 at the Imperial Theatre.

After losing what matters most, a young man jumps a moving train unsure of where the road will take him and finds a new home with the remarkable crew of a traveling circus, and a life—and love—beyond his wildest dreams.

The musical is under the direction of Tony Award® nominee Jessica Stone, known for Kimberly Akimbo, and features a book by three-time Tony nominee Rick Elice, celebrated for Jersey Boys and Peter and the Starcatcher.

The musical adaptation has a runtime of approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes, including one intermission. Tickets are available here.

Cha Ramos is a fight director, intimacy director, dramaturg, playwright, performer, and instructor. Notable credits include: fight and intimacy direction for Dom Juan (Fisher Center at Bard College); associate intimacy direction for Company and Jagged Little Pill (Broadway); dramaturgy for new works by José Rivera and Leslie Ayvazian; performing with the Vixens En Garde all-female sword-fighting Shakespeare comedy troupe; and ongoing development of her three original plays.
