Alumna Marike Splint ’07 creates and directs You Are Here - a homebound travelogue as a part of the Digital Without Walls (WOW) series at La Jolla Playhouse. This innovative digital theatre experience marks Splint’s return to the WOW festival, following Among Us, and audio theatre experience that was presented in WOW’s 2017 festival.
Splint invites patrons on a road trip around the world via Google Earth. Filmed with a live Zoom audience as part of the piece’s development, You Are Here delivers a stirring, documentary-style production that reinvents how we meet each other and how we gather. This visual experience takes audiences down the forgotten roads of personal geographies, the back alleys of memory, and highways to long desired places. Splint calls You Are Here a meditation on what home is.
