Acting Alumnus Grayson Powell '11 Co-Stars in Amazon Prime's 'Modern Love'

Acting alumnus Grayson Powell ’11 co-stars in the first episode of Amazon’s new romantic comedy television series Modern Love. Powell returns to television in this anthology series with previous appearances on CBS’ Madam Secretary and Made in Jersey.

Modern Love is an anthology series based on the running New York Times column the paper describes as "weekly essays that explore the joys and tribulations of love." The series stars an ensemble of familiar faces, with a new trailer showing Anne Hathaway, Julia Garner, Dev Patel, Catherine Keener, Tina Fey, Andy Garcia, and John Slattery. The eight half-hour episodes will follow a variety of stories set in New York City. Modern Love is set to premiere on October 18. 

Powell is a professional actor with over 10 years of experience in stage, television, film and stand up comedy. He has also taught acting workshops in the U.S., Europe. Grayson taught Acting & Scene Study and Improvisation at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts Summer Program and currently teaches Career Prep in their Conservatory Program. In his spare time Grayson enjoys brewing beer in his tiny NYC kitchen, collaborating on creative projects with his wife and friends, as well as visiting family in the Carolinas where he grew up. He has performed at regional theatres such as the Capital Repertory Theatre, Gulfshore Playhouse, Flat Rock Playhouse, Chopin Theatre, Barnstormers Theatre, and Commonwealth Shakespeare Company.

Powell will be sharing his acting knowledge this fall as an acting instructor at New York Conservatory for Dramatic Arts. In the spring, he is scheduled to begin working on the feature film Swell, with 3 Worker Films.
