Laura from the Valley, a debut novel from Mark Lopez ’20, will be published by Running Wild Press on September 12, 2023.

Writing alumnus Francisco González ’19 has been awarded a 2023 Steinbeck Fellowship.

Three Columbia artists have been selected to participate in the 2023  Harvestworks New Works Artist Residencies. They are: Sound Arts alumni Kamari Carter ’19 and Julian Day ’20, and Writing Program alumna Mónica de la Torre ’95 (GSAS ’13).

Writing Alumnus Ricardo Alberto Maldonado '08 has recently been appointed as the Executive Director and President of the Academy of American Poets. This marks an unprecedented moment as Maldonado becomes the first Latino leader in the Academy's nearly century-long history. 

 

Associate Professor Leslie Jamison is set to release her next book, Splinters (Little, Brown and Company), in early 2024.

Adjunct Associate Professor Kate Zambreno will release her latest work, The Light Room: On Art and Care (Riverhead Books), on July 4, 2023.

Adjunct Assistant Professor and Writing alumna Hilary Leichter ’12 is set to launch her second book, Terrace Story (HarperCollins, 2023), a novel based on the National Magazine Award-winning story published in Harper’s in 2021.

Writing Alumnus Tyler Parker ’16 has published his debut novel A Little Blood and Dancing (Penguin Random House, 2023).

Writing alumna Jennifer Cody Epstein ’03 is set to release her latest novel, The Madwomen of Paris, in July 2023, through Penguin Random House.

Writing Alumnus Aaron Poochigian ’16 is set to release Mr. Either/Or: All the Rage (Etruscan Press, June 2023). The book is a sequel to Mr. Either/Or, published in 2017 by the same publishing house.

In The Guest, the latest book from Emma Cline ’13, summer is coming to a close.

Fireworks Every Night (Random House, 2023), a debut novel by Beth Raymer ’08, offers a poignant portrayal of a young woman struggling to navigate the tumultuous landscape of her family in 1990s South Florida.
