Writing Alum Adam Wilson ’09 and Film alum Albert Berger ’83 Collaborate On ‘Last Days of Basic Cable’

Adjunct Associate Professor Adam Wilson ’09 has co-written the screenplay for the upcoming film Last Days of Basic Cable alongside Justin Taylor. Film alumnus Albert Berger ’83 is also attached to the project as one of the film's producers.

Last Days of Basic Cable has recently drawn attention with the addition of Michael Imperioli (The White Lotus, The Sopranos) among others to its cast. Directed by Max Winkler, the film follows the lives of four young adults in their twenties as they experience love and life in a college town in New England during the 1990s. Daniel Zolghadri (Y2K) takes on the role of Aaron, an aspiring writer, with Paul McGhie (Poker Face) portraying his roommate Jason. Jessica Barden (The End of the F***ing World) plays Jessica, Jason's girlfriend, while Imperioli embodies the character of Bob, a taxi driver under the influence who strikes up a friendship with Aaron.

Adam Wilson is the author of three books including, most recently, the novel Sensation Machines. A National Jewish Book Award finalist, and a recipient of The Paris Review’s Terry Southern Prize for Humor, his work has appeared in Harper’s, Tin House, The Paris Review, VICE, and The Best American Short Stories, among many other publications.Wilson has taught in the creative writing programs at NYU and Columbia. He lives in Brooklyn with his wife and their two sons.

Albert Berger formed Bona Fide Productions with Ron Yerxa in 1993. Their producing credits include King of the Hill (1993), Election (1999), The Wood (1999), Pumpkin (2002), Cold Mountain (2003), Bee Season (2005), The Ice Harvest (2005), Little Miss Sunshine (2006), Little Children (2006), The Switch (2010), Ruby Sparks (2012), and Nebraska (2013). Bona Fide’s executive producing credits include Hamlet 2 (2008), the Wilco documentary I Am Trying to Break Your Heart (2002), Chevolution (2008), the award-winning documentary Crumb (1994) and more recently the HBO series The Leftovers.
