Film Professor Bette Gordon’s film The Drowning will celebrate its official release on May 10 at IFC Cinema in New York, and will be shown during the 2017 Columbia University Film Festival.
The Drowning opened at the Los Angeles Women’s International Film Festival last month. The film played at the opening night gala on March 23. The film came off a strong festival run, including a North American premiere at the Woodstock Film Festival in October of last year.
The Drowning is a psychological thriller, starring Josh Charles (The Good Wife), Julia Stiles CC'05 (Jason Bourne), and Avan Jogia (Tut), and tells the story of “Tom Seymour (Charles), a psychologist who, while walking with his wife Lauren (Stiles), jumps into an icy river to save a drowning man (Jogia), only to discover that he’s the same boy he put away for murder twelve years earlier. When the boy reappears in Tom’s life, Tom is drawn into a potentially dangerous reinvestigation of the case.”
