Three Columbia alumni have collaborated on a highly anticipated new film from A24 and AppleTV titled Sharper, set to release in select theaters and on Apple’s streaming service on February 17, 2023.

The film was co-written by Alessandro Tanaka '04 and Brian Gatewood ‘04, and produced by Tanaka, Gatewood, and Erik Feig (CC, '92).

Sharper follows a single mother (Julianne Moore) who sets her sights on an outrageously wealthy businessman (John Lithgow), while her disgraced son (Sebastien Stan) works his own angle to win a fortune. Characters compete for riches and power in a high-stakes game of ambition, greed, lust, and jealousy.

The neo-noir thriller  was directed by Emmy-winning filmmaker Benjamin Caron, and Julianne Moore  co-produced the film alongside Feig.

Erik Feig, a media executive and producer, is the founder and president of PICTURESTART, a production and co-financing company that creates, owns and aggregates content for the youth market.

Brian Gatewood and Alessandro Tanaka are both writers and producers known for writing the films Comrade Detective (2017), The Sitter (2011) and Superstore (2015).
