Antoneta Alamat Kusijanovic ‘17 Nominated for a DGA Award

The 75th annual Directors Guild of America Awards has announced its nominations for outstanding achievements in Film and Television, and Columbia alums are among those recognized.

Antoneta Alamat Kusijanovic '17 has been nominated for Outstanding Directorial Achievement of a First-time Feature Film Director for her film Murina. She is one of three women nominated for the award. Murina is a standout film and debut for Kusijanovic. The film was executive produced by Martin Scorcese and won the Camera d’Or trophy for best first feature at the Cannes Film Festival in 2021.

Murina follows a teenage girl who  decides to replace her controlling father with his wealthy foreign friend during a weekend trip to the Adriatic Sea.

Several other projects involving Columbia alumni are also represented across nomination categories, including Inventing Anna, which features appearances from acting alumna Rebecca Henderson '06 and is nominated for Best Limited Series, Last Week Tonight with John Oliver, which features writing by Joanna Rothkopf (JRN '14) and is nominated for Best Variety/Talk/News Show, and The Fabelmans, co-written by Tony Kushner (CC '78), nominated for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Theatrical Feature Film.

The DGA awards will be presented on Saturday, February 18 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles, CA.
