Alumna Lucy Powis ’18 produced ‘Really Really Gorgeous’

Alumna Lucy Powis ’18 produced Really Really Gorgeous at The Tank. The world premiere production penned by Nick Mecikalski and directed by Miranda Haymon played the 99-seat Manhattan Theatre for 16 performances, closing February 9, 2020. 

In Really Really Gorgeous enter America's disgusting and sensational future where everything is underwater, but the TVs still work. In a moldy shack, two women slosh through life together, each the other's only remaining companion, sharing dreams of stardom and power that will never, ever, ever come true. Except when they do. Really Really Gorgeous traverses the dystopian, the outlandish, and the magical to arrive at the collision between love, celebrity... and the apocalypse.

Powis, a graduate of the dramaturgy program, is a dramaturg, producer, and arts administrator from Toronto. She serves as a Literary Assistant at Abrams Artists Agency. She also works as a script reader for Roundabout Theatre CompanyWilliamstown Theatre FestivalTheatre For A New Audience, and Pipeline Theatre Company. Recent credits include In the Penal Colony with New York Theatre Workshop, [wave emoji] with Ars Nova, and Between the Threads: Jewish Women Project at HERE Arts Center.
