Writing alumnus Lytton Smith ’07 has published two books: The Square, a chapbook of poems about protest movements (New Michigan Press) and On Time and Water, a translation of a groundbreaking Icelandic book about climate change (Open Letter).

HarperCollins India recently announced that their prestigious Fourth Estate Imprint would be publishing a debut novel by alumna Naheed Phiroze Patel '16.

Nonfiction Alumna Kao Kalia Yang '05 recently published two books, Somewhere in the Unknown World (Metropolitan, 2020)—a collective refugee memoir—and The Most Beautiful Thing (Carolrhoda Books, 2020)—a picture book based on Yang's own experience as a young Hmong refugee.

Sweetgum & Lighting, a debut poetry collection by Alumnus Rodney Terich Leonard '18, will be released on February 15, 2021 by Four Way Books.

Interstate Highway System, a poem by alumnus Adam O. Davis '06 recently published in The Believer, has been selected for inclusion in Best American Poetry by alumna Tracy K. Smith '97.

Wild Pets, a debut novel by alumna Amber Medland '15, will be released on July 1, 2021 by Faber & Faber.

Ghost Letters, a collection of poetry by alumnus Baba Badji '15, was released by Parlor Press on January 1, 2021. Excerpts from Ghost Letters can be found here. 

Dutch Kills Press recently released 2020: Good Writing from a Bad Year, an e-book anthology edited by alumnus Gordon Haber '02. 

Alumnus Rafiq Kathwari '00 recently published his newest collection of poems, My Mother's Scribe, with Yoda Press. 

“XXYX Queer Africa: More Invisible” by Playwriting alumnus Nick Hadikwa Mwaluk ’09 has been included in The Best American Essays 2020, edited by André Aciman.

NPR's Book Concierge recently released its list of best books of 2020, naming several titles by School of the Arts alumni and faculty among them.

Boyz n the Void: a mixtape to my brother by alumnus G'Ra Asim '18 is scheduled to be released by Beacon Press on May 11, 2021 and is now available for preorder.
