The winners of the 2022 RBC Bronwen Wallace Award for Emerging Writers were announced this month, among them alumnus Patrick James Errington ’15 as the winner in the poetry category for his ‘sonorous’ collection, If Fire, Then Bird. 

The debut novel of poet, translator, and alumna E.J. Koh ’13 will be published by Tin House Books, arriving in summer/fall 2023.

When Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24th, Poetry Alumna Laima Vincė '94 started a project to amplify the voices of Ukrainian women who are currently experiencing the war firsthand.

Our beloved colleague—poet, translator, essayist and critic Richard Howard, who taught at Columbia (which he also attended as an undergraduate) for nearly 30 years, died on Thursday at the age of 92. The range of his work was prodigious and it garnered many awards—the Pulitzer prize (1970) for his collection, Untitled Subjects, the PEN Translation Prize (1976) for his translation of E.M. Cioran’s A Short History of Decay, and the National Book Award (1984) for his translation of Baudelaire’s Les Fleurs du Mal.

Alumnus and Adjunct Assistant Professor of Undergraduate Creative Writing Joseph Fasano '08 recently embarked on a creative project through Twitter titled "Poem for My Son."

Eulalia Books recently published the long-awaited poetry debut, Cold, by Meg Matich '15. The collection is available for purchase at Eulalia Books.

Action Books recently published My Jewel Box, a collection of poems by Ursula Andkjær Olsen translated from the Danish by Adjunct Assistant Professor Katrine Øgaard Jensen '17. The book is now available for purchase.

2022 marks the 53rd annual NAACP Image Awards. Among the nominees are five projects from Columbia alumni. The NAACP is the home of grassroots activism for civil rights and social justice. The organization has more than 2,200 units across the nation, powered by well over 2 million activists.
