Visual Arts alumna Patrice Renee Washington ’14 is presenting Tendril, a profound solo exhibition that explores identity through sculpture and ceramics. Hosted at the Institute for Contemporary Art at Virginia Commonwealth University, the exhibition runs through July 14, 2024.

First-year Visual Arts student Rama Ghanem has been awarded a summer research fellowship through the Institute for Religion, Culture and Public Life.

Visual Arts alumna Abby Robinson ’22's solo show, entitled, simply, Abby Robinson, opens at Tilton Gallery—covering the rooms, halls, and fireplaces in canvas, netting, silk, wood, plaster, and bright shocks of oil and acrylic colors. 

Three School of the Arts faculty members and alumni have been inducted into the Academy of Arts and Sciences.

From April 27 until June 2, 2024, Situations Gallery in New York City is presenting Soft Pangs, a debut solo exhibition by Visual Arts alum Calvin Kim ’23

The State We’re In, the latest solo show by Visual Arts alumna Nancy Cohen ’84, will be at Kathryn Markel gallery until May 4.

During the Covid-19 pandemic, Associate Professor of Visual Arts Naeem Mohaiemen (GSAS '19) created two works, both of which are featured in The Light at the End of the Tunnel, a solo show on view at Kenyon College’s teaching museum, The Gund.

From March 1, 2024 until April 22, 2024, the sprawling installation works of Visual Arts alumnus Barış Göktürk ’20 are on view in a solo exhibition at Subtitled NYC, a gallery in the heart of Greenpoint known for its collaborative and interdisciplinary approach to art curation. 

On March 22, 2024, the Columbia University School of the Arts Visual Arts Program held an opening reception to present the 2025 First Year MFA Exhibition, a showcase for the 30 artists who will complete their first year of the Visual Arts MFA Program in May.

Visual Arts student Youngmin Park recently presented fifteen works on paper, canvas, and wood at the prestigious Make Room Gallery in Los Angeles California.

Materiality lies at the heart of Scab, the solo exhibition by Visual Arts alumna Xinyi Liu ’22 on view at A.I.R. Gallery in Brooklyn, NY until April 14, 2024.

Leroy Neiman Professor of Professional Practice Tomas Vu-Daniel has been commissioned by the Asia Society Texas and the University of Houston’s Cynthia Woods Mitchell Center for the Arts to create a collaborative public art installation alongside Cuban American artist Rafael Domenech.
