Theatre Management and Producing alumnus Ryan Bogner ’15 is the lead producer on The Cottage, which will premiere on Broadway this summer.

In his new book, Brian Kulick looks to everyone from Euripides to Ibsen for the answer.

Professor Anne Bogart will direct Boston Lyric Opera’s production of Bluebeard’s Castle/Four Songs. The brand new production, which will be presented March 22–26, 2023 at The Terminal at Flynn Cruiseport Boston, blends Bela Bartók’s 1918 opera, Bluebeard’s Castle, with Alma Maria Schindler-Mahler’s Four Songs (Vier Lieder) from 1915.

The winners of the 66th Annual Obie Awards, selected from over 400 productions spanning 2020-2022, were announced on February 23, 2023. The awards, which were presented on February 27, honored the work of several Columbia faculty, alumni, and students. 

Directing alumna Rachel Chavkin ’08 is set to direct the upcoming Broadway production of Larissa FastHorse’s The Thanksgiving Play, with Directing student Tiffani Swalley as Assistant Director.

Acting alumna Anya Banerjee ’20 stars in the tenth and final season of The Blacklist, which premiered on Sunday, February 26, 2023. 

Directing student Liz Peterson has been awarded one of University Life’s Social Justice Mini-Grants for 2022-2023.

Professor David Henry Hwang’s Yellow Face will be adapted for the audio storytelling platform, Audible, as the first venture of a multi-project development deal with actor, director, and producer Daniel Dae Kim. 

Tiffani Swalley presents Medea for The School of the Arts's fifth directing thesis production this year. The timeless play meditates on taking fate into one's own hands and asks how far one would go to take back one's life. In our interview, Tiffani describes her inspiration for the production, and why this version of a 2,000 year old story is relatable to a modern audience.

Directing alumnus Carl Cofield ’14, Associate Artistic Director of the Classical Theatre of Harlem (CTH), directs CTH’s one-week-only production of Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night.

Theatre Management & Producing student Talia Escobedo has been awarded a Cody Renard Richard Scholarship. The scholarship, founded by Adjunct Assistant Professor Cody Renard Richard, seeks to uplift and support the next generation of theatre leaders of color.

Following a successful seven performance run at New York City Center in November 2022, Parade is heading to Broadway with several Columbia affiliates aiding the production.
