Mention My Beauty, a solo-show written and performed by Associate Professor of Professional Practice Leslie Ayvazian, qill run at New York Theatre Workshop from May 5 through June 14, 2026.

Theater Management & Producing student Zach Hedner is serving as an associate producer on Beaches, a new musical produced by Broadway and Beyond Productions, a production company co-founded by Theater Management & Producing alum Ryan Bogner '15.

The Whiting Foundation announced the 2026 recipients of their prestigious Whiting Awards, which celebrate emerging writers with exceptional literary talent. The cohort of ten included two Columbia alums, Theatre graduate Celine Song '14 and Writing alum and Assistant Professor Hilary Leichter '12.

Dog Day Afternoon, a new play on Broadway written by Stephen Adly Guirgis and adapted from the 1975 film of the same name, includes multiple Columbia connections. 

Wilderness Generation, a new play by playwright, Concentration Head, and Associate Professor James Ijameswill premiere with Philadelphia Theatre Company (PTC) this April.

My Joy is Heavy, a new show directed by Theatre alum Rachel Chavkin '08, extended at the New York Theatre Workshop due to popular demand. 

Written by Jeena Yi '14 and directed by Mei Ann Teo '14, the Public Theater’s ‘JESA’ takes its audience beyond a simple familial ritual to the beginnings of healing. Read more from the Columbia Spectator.

Vladimir, a novel by Playwriting alum Julia May Jonas '12, has recently been adapted into a Netflix limited series.

Dramaturgy alum Annie Jin Wang '20 will serve as the dramaturg on the world premiere of Professor Emeritus David Henry Hwang’s updated version of Flower Drum Song, the Rodgers and Hammerstein musical from 1958.

Theatre alums Julián Mesri '20 and Meropi Peponides '13 are part of the creative team bringing to life the World Premiere of CANCIONES, an immersive theatrical experience to take place inside an apartment in Flatbush Brooklyn May 2–24, 2026. 

Acting alum Anya Banerjee '20 is on the big screen as Nurse Kett in Song Sung Blue, a new film about a Neil Diamond tribute band starring Hugh Jackman and Kate Hudson.
