Visual Arts alumnus Uri Aran '07 is currently featured in a solo show titled I’m a Restaurant at the Andrew Kreps Gallery in New York City.

The exhibition, which opened on May 12, 2023, “speak[s] in a voice that is both singular and plural, confounding I and we,” states the gallery’s press release. Traversing several modes of making, Aran’s work explores how parts arrange into wholes, as well as how meaning is constructed and continues to shift.

“The show moves through a knotty emotional register, rife with dissonance,” writes Tommy Brewer for the gallery. “A sense of comedy, both slapstick and deadpan, permeates the exhibition. But melancholy easily coexists with playfulness: a silly or cute moment can also feel heartbreaking. And of course, everything resonates differently depending on a person’s own history.”

I’m a Restaurant is on view now through July 7, 2023.
