School of the Arts 2023 Spring Party Honored Dean Carol Becker, Raised Important Scholarship Support for Students

On Thursday, March 30, 2023, the School of the Arts Dean’s Council welcomed our community of alumni, parents, and generous friends to the 2023 School of the Arts Spring Party at the Lenfest Center for the Arts, honoring Dean Carol Becker for sixteen years of tremendous leadership of the School. This exciting event brought the Columbia arts community together to raise vital fellowship funds for the newly established Dean Carol Becker Fellowship Fund for student artists.

The event was chaired by the Head of the Dean’s Council and Film alumna, Katharina Otto-Bernstein ‘92. The festive program’s speakers included Theatre alumnus Michel Hausmann ‘14, Professor of Professional Practice in Film Jamal Joseph, Columbia President Lee C. Bollinger, Chair Emerita of the University Trustees Lisa Carnoy, School of the Arts Dean’s Council member Leonard Tow, and Dean Becker. Guests were treated to performances by Columbia College alumnus and Pulitzer Prize winner Tom Kitt ‘96, and a duet from Professor of Theatre David Henry Hwang’s newest opera, An American Soldier.
